Synopsis

Thirty-eight amateur MMA fighters, nineteen women and nineteen men, move into a training camp built for the show. Split into three teams coached by Ciryl Gane, Cédric Doumbè and Benoît Saint-Denis, they face physical challenges, technical tests and cage fights. The winner takes home €100,000 and a contract with a professional league.

Why watch it

L'Arène (The Arena) is an MMA competition series made in France for Netflix. It was released in three drops: five episodes on 30 September 2026, a second batch on 7 October and the final on 14 October. The season runs to ten episodes. It arrives six years after MMA was legalised in France in 2020.

Three coaches, three styles

Ciryl Gane, a UFC heavyweight and former interim champion, comes from Muay Thai. Cédric Doumbè, a former Glory kickboxing world champion, built his MMA career on striking. Benoît Saint-Denis, a UFC lightweight, is known for relentless pressure and grappling.

What you will see

The format follows sports reality TV: eliminations, team rivalries and fighter profiles. Cage fights are the centrepiece of each episode. If you train, you will recognise camp life: wrestling and striking sessions, weight management, recovery and nerves before stepping into the cage.

Reception

According to Netflix's weekly ranking, L'Arène was the most watched series in France in its first week and also charted in Belgium and Morocco. The full season is on Netflix.
