What's at stake

Olympic boxing comes to Dakar for the first Youth Olympic Games held in Africa. The tournament is run by World Boxing, the international federation recognised by the IOC since the IBA was excluded. For many young boxers it is their first major multi-sport event, with an athletes' village and Olympic medals.

France has one boxer: Shanon Cabane at -57 kg. World Boxing has also highlighted several entrants, including Seychelles' Franco Leeroy Zialor, Sweden's Ali Zaheer Changezi, a European under-17 medallist, and Venezuela's Garcia and Castillo.

Schedule

According to the organising committee's calendar, bouts run from Saturday 7 to Thursday 12 November at the Dakar Expo Center. The round-by-round schedule and finals by category had not been published in the sources we checked as of 4 November.

On TV

In France, france.tv sport holds exclusive rights and shows the Games in full, every day from 9:55 am Paris time. The IOC also streams events live in French and English on Olympics.com.

Getting there

The Dakar Expo Center is in Diamniadio, the new town about thirty kilometres from central Dakar, which also hosts judo, fencing and wushu at these Games. The Games close on 13 November.
