The French kickboxing team has been competing since 6 November at the WAKO senior European Championships in Skopje, North Macedonia. The event, which also includes veterans and para-inclusive divisions, runs until 15 November. The French federation for kickboxing, muaythai and associated disciplines (FFKMDA) selected nine fighters across three ring disciplines: low kick, K1 and full contact.
The squad
Two women made the trip: Laura Dumont in low kick (-60 kg) and Clara Pennequin in K1 (-60 kg). Among the men, Tommy Thamrong (-54 kg), Enzo Pretet (-57 kg) and Kenny Jacquens (+91 kg) fight in low kick; Adam Dhaili (-57 kg), Ismaël Fajry (-60 kg) and Hassan Hamilcaro (-86 kg) in K1; Romann Laroudie (-75 kg) in full contact. Two coaches and one referee travel with the group.
Fajry defends, Pennequin returns
Ismaël Fajry, from the Istres club, puts on the line the WAKO European K1 title he won in Athens in 2024. He also holds two K1 World Cup wins, in 2022 and 2025. Romann Laroudie has a 41-6 record in full contact and is aiming for the podium. Clara Pennequin, 22, is back after an enforced break: a WAKO world champion at junior and then senior level, she has held the Enfusion world title at -61 kg, a professional belt, since 2024.
Building on Abu Dhabi
The federation wants to build on the 2025 WAKO World Championships in Abu Dhabi, where France took five medals including a title for Lyndsey Thomas. No broadcast has been announced in France; the FFKMDA will post results, photos and videos on its website and social media, and the full brackets are available on the WAKO website.
It is a busy week for the federation: from 6 to 16 November, fifteen young French boxers are also competing at the IFMA Youth World Muaythai Championships in Olympia, Greece.
